Paid Writing Opportunities:

Breakthrough—How did you find (or almost find) that tough-to-crack family member? Tell the readers of Ancestry Magazine just how you did it through a first-person Breakthrough story. But keep it short—word counts should fall between 100-700 words. Published Breakthroughs pay between $50 and $300.

Backstory—Have a photo of a relative making history? Send it along with a very brief (50 word) story explaining just how history was being made. Published BackStories earn $100.

Heirloom—Packrat or just sentimental? If you’re ready to share you collection of heirlooms, send Ancestry Magazine a brief description of the collection as well as a photo. Published Heirlooms earn $100.

Heritage Recipe—Who didn’t love great-grandma’s goulash? Send your favorite family recipe and a short story detailing your fondest memories of the dish to Ancestry Magazine. Published Heritage Recipes earn $100.

Other ideas or articles—Payment varies depending upon article type, subject, and length. Completed articles only please—no queries.

Non-Paid Opportunities:
Event—If your organization is planning a historical or family history-related event, send in the details to Ancestry Magazine’s event calendar. Please include name of event, location, dates, and URL where readers can find more information. Note—Due to space limitations and publication dates, Ancestry Magazine cannot publish every event.
