If You Could Pick Your Ancestor, Who Would You Choose?

If you could put anyone in your family tree, who would it be–and why would you want to be related to him or her?

  2. I am new to ancestry.com, but, I am having a blast finding out my hertiage. I can find info. in the USA, but not about Native Americans, Ireland, FLemish, German, etc., etc. I don’t have enough info. about who was who and where they belonged in my family tree. Any ideas on how I can start to build our tree, with little info.?

  3. I would like to be any of my ancestors in Ireland. I don’t have a reason why but I guess that would be the begining of time to get to me now.

I would like to be the historian of the family and write down everything that went on the first hundred years of their lives……and leave it in a safe place for our future family to find……….so they would not have to work so hard searching and researching. I feel that if the first hundered years were written or recorded and kept safe that the rest would go very smooth.

    my great uncle Reinhart. He came to USA from Posen, Prussia; Homesteaded in South Dakota, fought in the
    Spanish American War and traveled from Illinois to Minnisota, to Wyoming to California and back to Chicago.

    Second choice would be: My great great grandmother Justine Brauer so I could get a list of all of her children

  11. I would pick Abraham Lincoln. Here was an person that grew up in a poor family but was Rich in there faith in God. He was not educated but through determenation and faith he broke the chains of poverity and became president.

  14. I am trying to trace a Henry Heise from Wheeling, W.
    VA. This will go back to the middle 1800’s His wife was Whilamina Shanhauls. How do I find this info.?

  15. Someone who has gone beyond the call of duty for her/his fellow man–maybe taking care of the wounded. Sarah Barton or Florence Nightingale for example. Or someone who discovered the cure for a serious disease like Jonas Salk. That is the kind of person I would like to have in my family tree. However, the ancestors I came from were great, even if unknown, because they made me who I am.
